Project Name: British Pasture Leather

Designers/brand: Grady + Robinson

Inspired by a belief that regenerative agriculture is a critical solution in renewing soils, stewarding ecosystems, and reforming food and design systems, Sara Grady and Alice Robinson created British Pasture Leather – the first supply of leather made from the hides of cattle raised on regenerative farms in the UK.

Hides are sourced from farms that are certified by Pasture for Life, an agricultural organisation that “champions the restorative power of grazing animals on pasture.” Tannage is conducted at a historic British tannery, using a traditional vegetable tanning method, and finishing is done with natural methods at a family-run facility in the UK.

The vision of British Pasture Leather is to link leather with exemplary agriculture, and to give designers the choice to use material that delivers positive impacts for land, ecosystems, animals, people, and nature.
