Sustainability

Planted actively promotes brands, businesses and organisations who place the environment, nature and sustainability at their core.

We seek to highlight reusable, recyclable and durable products and materials, presenting beautiful brands today who improve our tomorrow.

We strive for a more circular economy and want to explore the role design can play in moving away from destructive linear consumption habits and processes. It’s our mission to effect positive environmental and societal change.

Planted works only with brands and businesses who share our vision of a sustainable future where humans live and work in harmony with nature, not against it. For a viable, profitable and sustainable future, Planted believes in enabling not disabling nature.

To this end, we support the concept and practice of re-wilding wherever it is practicable, safe and commercially viable to do so. We also support broadening citizens right to roam and believe access to nature and quality green spaces should be an basic human right. Our population’s health and capacity to drive our economy is directly related to accessibility to nature.

We are actively working towards B-Corp certification and are committed to becoming a carbon positive business and, in partnership with Dodds & Shute, carefully select brands for their sustainable and environmental credentials.

Where there is any room for doubt, potential exhibitors and partners will be vetted by our highly experienced panel of sustainability experts.

As part of our commitment to the environment and a more sustainable future, Planted will:

  • Be the first zero-waste design event where all byproducts of our physical shows are either re-used, repurposed or recycled.

  • Send nothing to landfill.

  • Have no single-use plastic available to purchase at our events, while plastic bottles are not permitted on site.

  • Require all our contractors and partners to find alternatives to plastic in when packaging or transporting materials to our events.

  • Attain B-Corp certification by year end 2021

  • Engage with government and local authorities to actively promote nature and the environment in their policies
