Design for Regeneration student design competition

Rules and Eligibility

At the time of submission, applicants must be a current student or recently graduated 2025 students at an accredited UK college or university, pursuing an acceptable design-oriented degree.

The following are acceptable degrees:

  • Architecture

  • Furniture design

  • Industrial design

  • Product Design

  • Interior Design

  • Land planning

  • Landscape architecture

  • Landscape design

  • Landscape design/build

  • Lighting design

  • Space planning

  • Woodworking

Individual entries are accepted; however, we also encourage multidisciplinary team entries with no more than three members per team. All team members must be eligible under these terms.

Who may enter

The competition is open only to students enrolled in one or more of the acceptable design-based courses during the 2024 - 2025 academic year and who are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. 

How to Enter

To submit a qualified entry (“Submission”) complete the following steps:

  • Submit the application form.

  • Upload up to six (6) project files in .jpg, .pdf, .mp4, and/or .mov format not larger than 100MB. .zip files will not be accepted. Images (.jpeg or .png) may be compiled into a .pdf file and submitted as one project file.

  • All entries will automatically be considered for the Design for Regeneration student design competition.

  • Entries may not contain any content that is explicit or overtly suggestive, unnecessarily violent, offensive, or derogatory of any ethnic, racial, gender, or age group.

    There is no fee to participate in the competition or to win the prize. Students can request a free, education license of Vectorworks by creating a portal account at customers.vectorworks.net

Chances to win

The student competition will be presented based on judges’ rating of submissions in accordance with the following criteria:

Judging criteria 

  • Clear regenerative intent

  • Creativity and innovation

  • Transparency in terms of material use

  • Site or context-specific thinking

  • Use of Vectorworks (any version) in your process

  • Design aesthetics – is it beautiful?

  • Strong visual storytelling

Prize includes

  • Cash prize of £1,000

Term

ALL COMPLETED SUBMISSIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY MIDNIGHT on 31 July, 2025. By applying, each entrant agrees to these Terms and Conditions and warrants that his or her submission complies with all requirements set out in these Terms and Conditions.

Timings 

  • May - competition opens

  • July - competition deadline 

  • September - Longlist designs announced

  • October – Shortlist designs announced

  • 14 October - Shortlist designs presented at Vectorworks Design Days conference in London. Winner announced at the Design Days conference on 14 October 2025
