The c(AI)rcle is a circular design/art installation, made from Sofalca's Expanded Black Cork, which has been expanded by having steam passed through it and brings the concept of Naturology (nature + technology) to life. It represents the symbiosis between artificial intelligence, (re) generative design, and sustainability. The circular structure, based on biomimetic principles, replicates organic natural phenomena from nature, designed through a collaboration between humans and algorithms. This opens a door onto an entirely new creative process in the fields of contemporary art and design.

These panels are produced exclusively with cork from the branches (falca) of cork oak trees from Portugal. Cork granules are processed into clusters in an autoclave (a high pressure industrial machine) through a completely natural method that uses only natural resin and excludes chemical additives. Cork, known as a super-material, offers extensive advantages. Besides its excellent thermal and acoustic properties, it acts as a CO2 sink, playing a key role in environmental sustainability. This unique connection of natural material and advanced technology highlights the creative, innovative and the sustainable genesis of the series The c(AI)rcle.
