Eden Project Morecambe is a unique and ambitious project that seeks to reimagine the seaside resort for the twenty-first century. The project has far-reaching environmental, social and economic ambitions, but above all, it will create a day out that inspires a sense of wonder and connection with the natural world.
The project comprises various architectural elements linking the town to its location with sensitive landscaping and new public spaces. The design connects visitors to its setting with above and below bay experiences, while providing a natural observatory to host research and education programmes.
At the heart of Eden Project Morecambe are the iconic domed buildings. The geodesic domes, that mimic soap bubbles or pollen grains, draw on the efficiency of nature’s engineering. As seen in The Eden Project Cornwall this type of structure inspired by the work of American Architect Buckminster-Fuller can cover large areas with little internal structure - creating large indoor environments that can be zoned to offer differing experiences.
