In conversation with Boutique by Shelter

“We’re showing that second-hand shops can compete with high-end brands and also be part of the circular economy. By shopping with us you can look good while doing good while at the same time helping people with really severe housing issues.”

Charity shops come in all shapes, sizes and styles and Boutique by Shelter on Coaldrops Yard, King’s Cross more than holds its own alongside some of the UK’s foremost fashion brands and design labels.

Shelter, the homeless charity set up in 1966 to raise awareness of rough sleeping and poor-quality housing, has established one of London’s finest second-hand fashion retailers on one of London’s most up and coming design districts.

We spoke to store manager Hattie Lamb about her work in the shop and the charity’s important work with the UK’s growing homeless population.
