The Forest of Selwood
The Forest of Selwood CIC comprises of local people, land managers, organisations and knowledgeable advisors committed to a more sustainable future for this special area. Selwood Forest straddles the border between Somerset and Wiltshire, it has been a recognisable, legal and physical entity since early Anglo-Saxon times.
Climate change and biodiversity loss demand new thinking, we champion collaboration to create a wilder connected landscape of abundant habitats, improved and expanded buffer zones with a focus on natural flood management processes in the Forest of Selwood’s five river catchments, restoring the natural balance of rivers.
We are passionate about reviving habitats and bringing back native wildlife, encouraging a shift from carbon intensive farming to regenerative agriculture and a diverse mix of habitat conservation, restoration, creation and rewilding, alongside a proportionate amount of forestry so that the landscape captures and holds carbon, while reducing emissions of other greenhouse gases.
Reconnecting people with the landscape through locally led action. The future of our planet relies on everyone taking individual and collective action, only together can
