Material name: Baux Acoustic Pulp
Producer: Baux
These biodegradable acoustic panels were developed with Form Us With Love and scientists from the Swedish Royal Institute of Technology. The chemical-free pulp material is formed of organically modified cellulosic fibres (from sustainably harvested Swedish pine and fir trees) and mimics the natural protective properties of various plants (e.g. fire-retardancy properties of grass roots).
The surfaces, inspired by origami paper-folding techniques, allow sound waves to enter the panels and get trapped in the honeycomb chambers.
