Can food save the world?

Hosted by Oliver Heath

Can food save the world will be investigating how to reconnect people with the food that they eat and the role that the natural and built environment has in delivering that.

With ever increasing demands on our land to mitigate climate change, to supply the energy and nutrition the global population requires, our food production systems have some big questions to answer. Central to all life a complex set of issues has evolved around the food that we eat and how we produce it be that around the health crisis, loss of biodiversity, soil degradation, industrialised farming techniques, and urban planning. Our expert panel will help us understand the depth of the issues we are facing and offer insights into how we can reshape our relationship with food production and consumption as a means to mitigate the impact of the climate crisis.

Topics covered will include

·       What impact is food production having on the environment

·       The role of industrialised farming in the climate emergency

·       Which foods are the worst offenders?

·       Healthy body, healthy gut, healthy mind

·       Reconnecting with nature and local community through food production

·       Urban farming – where and how it can what we need

·       The true value of growing your own

Panellists: Stewart Dodd  (CEO River Cottage), Mark Shayler (Greenlab) and Sara Fernee (The Very Local Food Hubs Project)
