The age of waste

Hosted by Sam Peters

How to achieve circularity and sustainability when the consumer is king

Did you know in nature there is no such thing as “waste”? In nature waste equals food. Always. Even “waste” discharged by humans and other animals is food for other organisms. Yet we as humans have created a society where waste is tolerated on a biblical scale. Across business, social and domestic platforms we waste food, clothing, materials and nature on a scale which has long sounding alarm bells for many for several decades. Since the dawn of industrial processing, waste has seeped into every part of human existence. So how do we turn the tide? What are the circular solutions out there and how do we effect cultural change and how much damage has already been done? The western world is by far the worst offender so how do we turn the tide on waste, force Government and manufacturers to change in order to stop the massive environmental and societal damage it causes?

Panellists: Sarah Ratty (Cielshop), Patrick Speck (Grohe) and Nick Stillwell (Storm Board)
